I’ve been rereading Montaigne’s essays.  My new favorite is On CarriagesHe’s so funny and charming that it’s easy to forget what he says goes incredibly deep.  I keep coming across meanings I’d completely missed the first time.  I think that’s the best way to learn, though…through enchantment. I’m still deciding what to read next.  I always fall back on the St. John’s Santa Fe reading list.  I love you St. John’s!

“I make free men from children by means of books and a balance.”

PS) Here are two short stories that are not on the list (although they should be): Virginia Woolf’s Death of the Moth and Anton Chekov’s About Love…I know, I am such a dork.
